LIBRARY CORNER

Summer Reading Programs

Appalachian State will be sending information that will be sent home concerning their Mountaineer Reading program. Students will read and record the books or pages, and at the beginning of the year turn them in. Top prizes include Zoom meetings that feature Appalachian ball teams and cheerleaders or visits from them. All students will be recognized on the large screen during a game that is either football, baseball, or basketball.

Wilkes County Public Library
The Summer Reading Program at the public library begins Tuesday, May 30, you can stop by the library (the main branch and the Traphill branch) to sign up and start winning prizes by reading. This year's theme is "All Together Now," focusing on kindness, friendship, and unity. Imagination Café will be back at the Wilkes County Public Library in June, we will partner with the school nutrition program to provide free lunches for children. There will be literacy activities at mealtime too. Check with the library for more information about this program.

End of Year News
School is winding down and the library will be shutting down for book collection and inventory. If your child has received an overdue notice, please look for the missing book(s) at home. All books are due May 12th.

The library has added almost 1,000 new books this year made possible by the Laura Bush Foundation for American Libraries Grant and profits from our two book fairs.
