Mrs. Katie Reeves,
Principal
My name is Matt Taylor, and I’m so excited to be joining Mountain View Elementary as your Assistant Principal Intern for the 2025–2026 school year. I am a National Board Certified Teacher entering my 19th year in education, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of such a strong and caring school community.
I live in the western part of the county with my wife, who teaches first grade, and our children. I love history, learning new things, and spending time with my family and our fur babies. I believe in the power of strong relationships, supporting student growth, and working alongside teachers and families to help every child succeed.
I can’t wait to get to know our amazing dragon students and families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s ever anything I can do to support you.
Here’s to a great year—Dragons have the best VIEW!

Attention Parents
Important Update: Parents, if you have not downloaded the Infinite Campus App and updated your child’s information we need that completed ASAP. We are not bringing in old info from PowerSchool, so every family needs to update their household information, medical details, and emergency contacts.
It is crucial for maintaining a safe learning environment and keeping you informed about your child’s school life. Plus, the Parent Portal is your go-to spot to check your child’s progress, chat with teachers, fill out forms, and more! Don’t wait! Download the Parent Portal app from the Google or Apple Store or log in online.
Welcome back! Students in lower grades will be bringing home books in their library bags. Some are a little worn but they still work. Please remember not to throw their bags away as these bags help to keep the books clean and dry. I am working to raise money to purchase a different type of bag for upper grade students to carry their books in to help them keep books protected.
Our book fair is coming up September 29-October 3.
The Fair will be open the Saturday before on September, 27 from 10:00 am - 2:00pm.
We have a new volunteer application platform so everyone will need to complete a new application for this school year. Beginning July 1, 2025, all previous Wilkes County Schools volunteers at all levels must reapply to become a volunteer for the 2025-2026 school year. Please follow the steps below to become approved.
We encourage everyone to apply for Level 2 volunteer to be able to volunteer for events such as our fall festival, and book fairs.
