A Message from the Principal

Dear Dragon Families,

I am honored to serve as your principal for the 2025-2026 school year. This year we are focused on building connections. It is important that each student feels loved and wanted. We want every child to love school and have a job at school. Dragons have the best VIEW. We value ourselves and others, are always improving with a growth mindset, empower ourselves and others by taking ownership of our education, and win as we set goals and focus on those goals.

This is my 19th year in education. I began as a teaching assistant at Mountain View back in 2008. I also taught at Mountain View, have served as an Assistant Principal, and this is my fourth year as principal. My husband and I live in the eastern part of the county and have three children.

Mrs. Katie Reeves, Principal

A Message from the Assistant Principal

Hello Dragon Families!

My name is Christy E. Rhoades. I am delighted to be a member of Mountain View Elementary School for the 2025/2026 school year. This school year will start my 25th year in Wilkes County Schools. I live in the Mulberry community with my husband and our fur babies (dogs, cats,  & horses). I love being outside. I love to swim, play basketball, and participate in several other sports. I also love to read!

I enjoy working with students and their families. I believe in lifelong learning. I believe that all students can be successful.

I am looking forward to meeting all of our dragon students and families. I am honored to serve as your assistant principal. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can assist you or your child.

I am looking forward to a great year! Dragons have the best view!

Peace and Grace,

Christy E. Rhoades

A Message from the Assistant Principal Intern

Dear Dragon Families,

My name is Matt Taylor, and I'm so excited to be joining Mountain View Elementary as your Assistant Principal Intern for the 2025-2026 school year. I am a National Board Certified Teacher entering my 19th year in education, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of such a strong and caring school community.

I live in the western part of the county with my wife, who teaches first grade, and our children. I love history, learning new things, and spending time with my family and our fur babies. I believe in the power of strong relationships, supporting student growth, and working alongside teachers and families to help every child succeed.

I can't wait to get to know our amazing dragon students and families. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's ever anything I can do to support you.

Here's to a great year - Dragons have the best VIEW!
